Happy Mother's Day!!

I love my mom! I am truly blessed to have her in my life. She is a such a great example and she helps me every single day. She is always there to sing, cook, cry or laugh with me and I hope I can one day be the kind of woman she is. She has such a strong testimony of the gospel and she truly loves to serve. I am glad we have this day to celebrate moms, but I love mine every day! Thank you Mom... for everything!

So I'm kind of at an odd place in my life... the kind of place where I really need to feel good about something. Like I've accomplished something! So... Jory taught me a new trick. In your google reader you can pull up your trends and it will tell you how many blog posts you have read in the last 30 days. Now I feel like I should point out here that I set up my google reader at the beginning of February. So it hasn't even been 2 months yet. But I made it a personal goal to read more blog posts than Jory... which is a lot. Jory knows everything. So that's a lot of information to keep up with! So I texted him today so see how many he's read in the last 30 days... and his response: 5704.

So I scrapped the goal. But I still feel like I've accomplished a lot!

Spring...

Today as I was driving back to work from lunch with Marsh and the girls, I had the most vivid daydream. My sunroof was open which I think inspired the whole thing. *I was riding on the back of Rodney’s motorcycle. The sun was shining but it wasn’t hot outside yet. We weren’t driving very fast and weren’t going anywhere in particular, just for a ride. It was perfection.* I miss that… I miss holding on to him and knowing that my life is literally in his hands and trusting him completely with it. I miss the feeling of the wind and all the smells that come with being outside. Someday soon! In the meantime I will be totally satisfied with driving with my sunroof open and loving the sun.

Ps. I’m going to Disney on Ice with Marci, Christian and the girls tomorrow and I can’t wait! I didn’t get to go with them to Disneyland a couple weeks ago so for me this is kind of exciting! Like my own little mini vacation for a day! Have a good weekend everyone!

So I want to get in shape. I'm not trying to lose weight or anything like that, I just want to be in better shape. So there is a blog I frequent called The Sweetest Occasion {you can go visit it here} and the author is this darling girl who is planning her wedding. Just to clarify, I am not planning a wedding. But she is and she is doing this push up challenge and I think it sounds like such a great idea so I did some research and I found a sit up challenge as well so I'm starting both next Monday. And I would love it if all of you would do it with me! Here's the info:

One Hundred Push Up 6 week challenge

So I feel like I should point out here that I can only do one push up. One real push up. So I have a long way to go!

So before Monday I need everyone to go here and read all about how to do the correct kind of push ups and do the initial test. Then, next Monday and I'll be starting with week one and we can all track our progress together! Sounds fun right!?!

Ok now the second part,

Two Hundred Sit-Ups 6 week challenge

Again, before next Monday go here, and learn all about the proper curls and do the initial test.

Dear Utah Drivers-

Please take a few seconds to look around when I honk at you before flipping me off. I only honked because the light we were both waiting at had been green for a number of seconds and I wanted to politely let you know that you could continue driving. It wasn't a long annoying honk, just a polite tap on the horn to get your attention. Your instant reaction should not be to flip me off. I think you may have aggression programs. Also, if I’m in the middle lane going a few miles over the speed limit and the fast lane is empty, please don’t feel the need to drive as close to my bumper as possible before moving into the open lane. It’s not helping anyone. One last thing… a wave goes a long way. If you’re in front of me in another lane and turn on your signal to move into my lane, I will try and slow down to let you in and it would be nice if you waved to say thank you. If you don’t signal and I don’t slow down and then have to slam on my breaks because you were going to hit me, you could still wave. It would make me feel much better. Thank you for your consideration!

So it's February already. Crazy! January has flown by and I know exactly where the time went. It went to Rodney. Rodney left for Norway yesterday. He's moving there for a few months to live with a family from his mission. I knew this would be hard so I prepared as much as I could and now I just have to carry on. Love is a funny thing like that. It's so unknown and always changing. I love Rodney. I love him in a way I sometimes don't understand. I have told him this so many times he just laughs at me now but I knew from the beginning of our friendship that there was something special with him. Something that drew me to him and no matter what we were doing, I was happier if I was with him. That's what life's all about right? Trying to be happy? And I am when I'm with him.

It's funny because anyone who knows him well wasn't surprised in the least that he would pick up his life and move half way across the world for a little while. He's just like that... adventurous, brave, crazy. It's all part of his charm. I asked him last week if my life was boring, because I didn't know if I could do what he was doing, I didn't know if I was brave enough. He laughed at me and told me I wasn't boring but I still kind of felt like I was. So I've been thinking about it a lot over the last few days and I've determined, I'm not boring. I just have different strengths than him... and that's why I love our relationship. We balance each other out and know how to handle each other through all kinds of different experiences. We have been through a lot in our little relationship and for that I am grateful. I don't know what will happen. I don't know if we'll end up together, I hope we do. But if we don't, I have no regrets because I am a better person for knowing him and I would hope he's a better person after knowing me. So here are just a few of my favorite Rodney memories:

Daddy's Girl

Happy birthday to the BEST DAD a girl could ask for!

I'm really lucky to have the dad I do! We have such a great relationship and I feel like I could really go to him about anything! Some of my favorite memories of my dad:

*Recreating The New Yorker in Calgary and keeping him awake while we were driving back by asking him what everything in the car did.
*Singing in the Vanigan (some highlights: cats in the cradle, crocodile rock, blue eyes, anything by genesis, yes, phil collins or elton john)
*Dad giving Marci relationship advice (You really hurt him)
*Volvos (They're built for safety!)
*Having him home every Friday growing up! This meant really good breakfasts, bring your dad to school days, and a chaperon to any school field trip! This was especially fun when the teacher thought he was a scientist!

*Rebuilding my supra
*Car auctions, car auctions and more car auctions
*Ice skating with dad and Kayla (he is REALLY fast)

Icon brain dump

So no pictures this blog... It feels like a pictureless topic anyways. So I've worked for Icon Security since April of 2006 which is a good chunk of time. On October 29th it was announced that we were merging with another company that does the same thing as us. This was interesting and scary news but a merger sounded not that bad. As things have ironed themselves out it turns out to be an acquisition more than a merger. What does this mean for us? Well our reps and techs are fine! They will pretty much do the same job just for a different company. Operations on the other hand is totally different! Pinnacle is the company that "acquired" Icon and they originally told us they were going to bring over 70-80% of our operations people. This is a big percentage so most of us weren't too worried. They have only hired 4 people so far so it's really not looking that great for the rest of us. I'm really not that worried about it. I have work with Icon for the next few months and that gives me time to find a new job and figure things out. Rodney is already hitting the new job front hard and I'm sure he'll have something good soon.

I'm not really sad about losing my job... I loved Icon but I didn't LOVE going to work everyday so this is probably a good opportunity for me. The sad thing is all the people. I have had a harder time than I thought I would thinking about not working with these amazing people every day. I have been so blessed with amazing co workers and bosses that it is going to be really hard to start all over not knowing anyone at a new place. I will truly miss all the friends I have made throughout my time at Icon and wish everyone well. Now I just have to make some big decisions. Stay in Utah or move somewhere new? Stay in the industry or start something new? Try my hand in a new business venture? Go to school? So many options and so to avoid them... I will just think about visiting my cute nieces and not making any life changing decisions! :)

The Life of a Potato

So this weekend Rodney took me up to Burley and we spent some time with his dad on the farm. Unfortunately... they weren't harvesting potatoes because it was too wet, but I did get a tour of everything and now I understand a little about what Rodney is talking about when he talks about the farm. So here's a few pictures of what goes on when harvesting potatoes:

So it all starts with the tractor that pulls "The Harvester". That's right... it's actually named The Harvester. So the harvester has these huge blades that go about 18 inches under the ground and all the dirt and potatoes and everything is run threw a series of conveyers that bounce the potatoes and weed out as much dirt as possible. They then get dumped off the boom into a big truck that is always driving next to the tractor. If you can't tell, that's me on top of the harvester!

The trucks then drive the potatoes to the cellar where it is sent through another series of conveyers. The potatoes first get separated into 2 lines. The really big potatoes, and the regular to small sized potatoes. The big potatoes get sent down a line for the "Clodders" to pull out the big dirt clods from the real potatoes. The other potatoes get sent through the "Dirt Eliminator" (again, such a clever name) that continues to separate out the dirt. Potatoes bounce more than dirt so they fall down a couple shoots and the potatoes bounce to higher levels and the dirt gets disposed of. They then all get sent down a conveyer belt that send them in to "The Piler" the final machine that piles the potatoes in the cellar.

The cellar is kept at a cool temperature to store the potatoes and they keep it cool by using these huge fans!

The Piler is a really cool machine that is run by remote control and places the potatoes in HUGE piles in the cellar. One of these cellars will hold bout 150000 sacks of potatoes.

Yep... this is us standing on 150000 sacks worth of potatoes! Such a fun weekend! Anyways... not sure if anyone cared too much about how potatoes are harvested but I was sure interested! More to come on Rodney's newest hobby and the intramural championship game!

Fall in Utah

So fall in Utah is absolutely beautiful! We've been lucky this year and it's stayed pretty warm! The last couple weeks we've been driving the Alpine Loop on Rodney's motorcycle and it was been really gorgeous! Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure!

20 Bridesmaids and a Ratatat concert

Last weekend Rodney and I headed up to Burley for his sister Helen's wedding. The whole thing was beautiful and it turned out exactly how they wanted it so that was great! They had 20 bridesmaids which was so funny but ended up looking really great in pictures! Helen and Avery looked amazing and they were so so happy so it was really nice to be able to be there for it!

Last night we went with Josh, Tessa and Jory to the Ratatat concert that turned out to be really fun! The crowd was so dumb and really annoying but the show was fantastic! This has been the summer of concerts so this was a good one to lead into fall (that's right... it already feels like fall in Utah). And tonight I get to babysit Eden! I love that girl!!

Friendiversary

I love Burley Idaho!

So we headed up to Burley again this weekend to go to the Cassia County Fair and Rodeo amongst other things. I really love Burley. Every time we go there we have so much fun! This weekend was jam packed of course! We went to the Hill AirForce base museum on Friday on our way up. It's free and really cool! Tons of old planes and air force history stuff. You should check it out. Then we went to the fair and ate really greasy but really tasty treats and played rook with the fam. I love card games... especially when I win, which Rodney and I did of course.
The next day we went to the Twin Falls temple open house and it was so beautiful! By far this was the highlight of the trip for me! Rodney's sister Helen is getting married there next week so it was special to be there and see everything inside before the wedding. Then we did the usual wakeboarding, horse races, bridal shower, more fair food and ended the night with a rodeo! Overall, such a fun weekend! I have a lot of life updates so maybe I'll start blogging a little more... we'll see ;) Have a good week everyone!

So... I know it's been a while and I keep telling Mandy I'll blog so... here it is!!

I love Halloween and this year it was a lot of fun! My roomates and I all decided to be Disney princesses and so I sewed a Cinderella gown, and it actually turned out pretty good! Turns out my roommates weren't all that serious about it so the group thing didn't really work! Oh well! I painted Rodney's face like a skull, doesn't it looked good? And the night was a blast! Thanks for reading Mand! I'm really going to try and do this more!

Well... I will start with the thing I probably miss the most. My poor car! I know that it's ridiculous but I really do miss it! It got me through some pretty tough times and a lot of states!! I miss you!! :)

So, I was going through all the pictures on my computer and printing some out to put up in my room and I couldn't help but laugh at all the "hidden" pictures I had! I guess I do this dumb thing after a break up where I hide all the pictures on my computer of "the ex" and that makes me think I'm moving on or something dumb like that. Well, I hid Caseyand Cody's files so well, I can't find them!! So I am not saying goodbye to all the people in those pics, just Case and Cody. It really cracked me up to see all the pictures I guess I didn't want to see anymore!! So, bye you boys who really didn't treat me well, but helped me realize what I want, and more importantly, what I don't want. I wish you all luck in life!!

Emotional Rollercoaster

Wow... this has been a crazy week! And I have come to the conclusion that I have the most high-maintenance ex-boyfriends ever! I am just waiting for a call from Cody saying that he is engaged again! That would really make my week! So after dealing with the Casey drama that made me feel terrible, I got a text from Kerry. This isn't uncommon as we text each other randomly. But his text said, can we get together later, I need to talk to you in person. My first thought was, you have got to be kidding me. I can not deal with any more drama this week! So I went over there after work, dressed in my Halloween costume, and he tells me that he wants to get back together. I almost started laughing! So one ex wants me to erase him from my life and the other wants to start dating again. CRAZY! So instead pf thinking about either problem, I made the decision that I am ready to date again! So... know anyone single in Utah?

Relationships Suck

So I have recently come to the conclusion that relationships suck! Ok well maybe I, along with everyone else in the world, realized this a long time ago, but it just seems really applicable right now. It just seems like there really isn't a person out there with the right balance for me. I know that isn't true, but that's just how I feel. And you would think that both people in the relationship would feel this weird tension or unsurity, but no... I guess it's just me! I just really don't want to deal with it right now! So instead of dealing with it, I will just sit in front of the TV and really not accomplish anything! That seems like a great way to spend my day!

So I have had a really sad week! I miss my mom, I miss my dad, I miss my sister and brother, I miss my roommates, I miss Kerry...

But then... I got a call last night from my best friend from Canada Mark Hanna! I haven't talked to him or seen him in like 3 or 4 years so it was sooo exciting! I miss that kid! And great news... he lives in Idaho and I can go visit him!! And then... the thought of being at Mandy and Matt's wedding, and getting to drive up to Utah with Lisa, got me out of my bad mood funk! So... thanks Mark!

Wow!

So my relaxing summer has turned out to be way different than I had expected. My job is crazy, I still don't have enough time in the day to do the things I would like to do, but I guess change is good right? Here are some highlights though...

*Mandy and Lisa coming to visit

*Riding every form of public transportation possible

*Making new friends

*Missing old ones

*Falling in love (again)

*Finally getting to spend time with my sister
